MBBR Technology in RAS Plant: Ammonia Removal Success

The RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System) plant design featuring Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology for ammonia removal has been operational since 2017. With a volume flow rate of Q = 100 m³/h, this innovative system ensures efficient and sustainable water treatment in aquaculture operations.

The MBBR process utilizes biofilm carriers to provide a large surface area for bacterial colonization, facilitating the conversion of harmful ammonia into less toxic compounds. By continuously recirculating and treating the water within the system, the RAS plant maintains optimal water quality, promoting healthier aquatic environments for fish cultivation.

This integrated approach to ammonia removal not only enhances water quality but also minimizes environmental impact, reflecting a commitment to responsible aquaculture practices.
